When I first saw the game osu!, I saw that the development team is working on a new version: osu!lazer, which has great looking graphics. In comparison, the current stable version of the game looked quite dated, hard to play with (poor readability), and comparably ugly.
After playing the game more and hearing news of development, I realized that osu!lazer would not actually be fully released any time soon (it is however available as a development version).
After making this realization, I looked to see what community created skins could make my client look as good as osu!lazer. To my disappointment, nothing available really looked aesthetically good enough to me while still maintaining playability. So I decided to make my own skin with the goals of being clean, fairly vanilla (conceivably stock), good looking, and very playable at a high level.
I took a lot of styling queues from the original osu! skin, osu!lazer's skin, and Sound Voltex: Vivid Wave.
Here is a video showcasing the skin.
The skins are available for download at these links.
